Every year, the IAEA organizes a two-week intensive training course on nuclear law. This event, known as the Nuclear Law Institute, is open to up to 60 participants, primarily lawyers, from IAEA Member States.
Nuclear Law Institute
For many years, the IAEA has assisted its Member States in developing their respective national laws for the peaceful uses of nuclear energy and ionizing radiation. In 2011, in response to the increasing demand from Member States for capacity-building in the area of nuclear law, including safety, security, safeguards and civil liability for nuclear damage, the IAEA established the Nuclear Law Institute as a supplement to existing TC programmes.
By the end of the training course, participants are expected to have acquired a solid understanding of all aspects of nuclear law and be able to draft, amend or review national nuclear legislation.
Upon completion of the training, participants receive a certificate of attendance.
