RIO20

As part of the Rio+20 conference taking place in Brazil 13-22 June 2012, Sustainable Development (SD) Learning Courses are being organized to provide participants with practical knowledge and hands-on training from experts around the world on a variety of topics. SD-Learning is a capacity building event consisting of multiple courses on crucial aspects of sustainable development.
The IAEA have submitted two courses and are partnering with a third course:

This training course will help bridge that gap and will contribute to capacity building in developing countries for comprehensive energy system planning. It is intended for enhancing the skills of energy analysts/planners in developing countries to identify and assess the linkages between energy choices and sustainable development, evaluate and compare energy options in term of their technical, economic and environmental aspects and design alternative energy strategies and assess their consequences for sustainable development.

Capacity building addressing marine challenges and threats
The exhibition and hands-on demonstrations proposed by IAEA-Environment Laboratories are expected to trigger discussions and increase awareness of the public on how peaceful nuclear technologies can assist Members States capacity in achieving their development priorities related to protection and sustainable use the marine and terrestrial environment.

Uncovering CLEWs-Integrated Climate, Land, Energy and Water Modelling
The training course will introduce participants to this concept and illustrate potential methods and applications.
