Office of Safety and Security Coordination
The Office of Safety and Security Coordination works to ensure coordination in all areas and activities related to nuclear safety, nuclear security, and the interface between the two.
The Office coordinates work to develop the IAEA safety standards and security series in cooperation with Member States. It also works to strengthen international cooperation in nuclear safety and security, including by supporting networks such as the IAEA Global Nuclear Safety and Security Network. It coordinates and manages projects aiming to improve nuclear safety using lessons learned from the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident. The Office also develops strategy for cross-cutting areas and coordinates the development of nuclear safety and security documents and contributions to Agency-wide documents for the IAEA’s policy-making organs.
