The June 1998 IAEA Bulletin edition examines the development of nuclear and radiation safety standards by the IAEA. The IAEA Statute expressly authorizes the Agency “to establish standards of safety” and “to provide for the application of these standards”. The articles and supplement in this edition report on the Agency’s work to facilitate international conventions, develop safety standards, and providing mechanisms for their application.
