This publication presents an overview of grading fundamentals, the grading process, the role of classification in the process and the typical controls that can be graded. It provides practical guidance and examples of grading as required by IAEA Safety Standards Series No. GS-R-3 to develop and apply a method of grading appropriate to the organization.
