Trending Issues in Nuclear Law (Webinar Series)

(Starting April 2025)

Building on the IAEA’s 2021-2022 Webinar Series on Nuclear Law and in light of the growing demand for legislative assistance, particularly from embarking countries, the IAEA is launching a new webinar series on trending issues in nuclar law. This series will focus on key issues and recent developments under the IAEA’s Legislative Assistance Programme, providing valuable insights for policymakers, decisionmakers, and stakeholders worldwide to develop robust national nuclear legal frameworks.

Legal Framework for IAEA Safeguards (Webinar Series)

(Completed: October 2023 – October 2024)

This webinar series on the legal framework for IAEA safeguards is conducted by the Office of Legal Affairs (Non-Proliferation and Policy Making Section) to increase awareness among IAEA Member States of the international instruments in the area of nuclear non-proliferation and safeguards and to assist them in implementing their international obligations and commitments, as well as with the drafting of safeguards related national nuclear legislation and regulations. This webinar series is open to government officials from all IAEA Member States with a policy, legal, regulatory or technical background.

Nuclear Law (Topical Webinar Series)

(Completed: October 2021 – September 2022)

This topical webinar series on nuclear law was implemented within the framework of the IAEA legislative assistance programme, which creates awareness among IAEA Member States of the international instruments in the nuclear field and assists them in complying with their international obligations and commitments, as well as with the drafting of corresponding national nuclear legislation. This latest webinar series was open to government officials with a policy, legal, regulatory or technical background from all IAEA Member States and was particularly beneficial for officials from countries participating in the IAEA Technical Cooperation Programme that are not party to some or all of the relevant international legal instruments adopted by or under the auspices of the Agency. 

Nuclear Law in Practice: The IAEA Perspective (Webinar Series)

The IAEA held a webinar on the basics of nuclear law and why it matters. It provided a forum for individuals and organizations from industry, law firms, NGOs, civil society and academia, as well as to the wider public to learn about nuclear law.
