UAE Signs a Country Programme Framework (CPF) for 2021-2027

HE Hamad Al Kaabi, Ambassador and Resident Representative of the Permanent Mission of the UAE to the IAEA, and Hua Liu, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, signing UAE's Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2021–2027. HE Mr Hamad  Al Kaabi, Ambassador and Resident Representative of the  Permanent Mission of the United Arab Emirates to the IAEA and Hua Liu, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, signed UAE’s Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2021-2027 on 06 December 2021. A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.

UAE has been an IAEA Member State since 1976. Its 2021-2027 CPF identifies four priority areas:

1. Nuclear Energy and Infrastructure

2.  Nuclear and Radiation Safety and Security

3. Human Health

4. Food and Agriculture

The priority areas will be addressed through the national programme and complementarily, with the projects under the regional programme including the regional agreement programme with ARASIA, the Cooperative Agreement for Arab States in Asia for Research, Development and Training related to Nuclear Science and Technology.
