Saudi Arabia Signs its Second Country Programme Framework (CPF) for 2024-2027

Mr Fahad Alsayyari, Director General of the Atomic Energy Department of the Ministry of Energy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Mr Hua Liu, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, signed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2024-2027 on 18 September 2024. A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals. 

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been an IAEA Member State since 1962. Its 2024–2027 CPF identifies seven priority areas: 

  1. Nuclear and Radiation Safety 
  2. Human Health 
  3. Nuclear Power 
  4. Industrial Applications and Radiation Technology 
  5. Nuclear Knowledge Management 
  6. Water and the Environment 
  7. Food and Agriculture
