Mr Dazhu Yang, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, signed Palau's Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2016-2021 on 2 December 2015. The CPF was also signed by HE Billy G. Kuartei, Minister, Ministry of State, on 20 November 2015 in Palau. A Country Programme Framework (CPF) is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.
Palau has been an IAEA Member State since 2008. Its 2016-2021 CPF identifies 5 priority areas:
1. Human Health and Nutrition
2. Food and Agriculture
3. Water and Environment
4. Sustainable Energy Development
5. Radiation Safety and Security of Radioactive Sources
