Are you interested in sharing your images with a global audience, on the theme of what nuclear security means to you? The IAEA is calling for submissions of photographs showcasing nuclear security work worldwide. The finalists will see their photographs displayed at an exhibition in next year’s International Conference on Nuclear Security: Shaping the Future (ICONS 2024) and featured on the IAEA website.
“During ICONS 2024, we aim to present a captivating photo exhibition which will tell a story about the different roles and functions that support national nuclear security regimes,” said Sara Mroz, Scientific Secretary of the ICONS 2024.
Contest participants are encouraged to creatively incorporate into their submissions any of the conference’s themes, and in particular its tagline “Shaping the Future.” The submission also requires a narrative describing each photograph and how it promotes nuclear security.
“We are looking for a diverse range of perspectives on nuclear security which combine the visual element with a powerful message,” added Mroz.
The photography contest is an opportunity for nationals of the IAEA Member States to contribute to promoting awareness about the current and future impacts of nuclear security. A selection committee will evaluate the photographs against the following criteria:
• Relevance to nuclear security, and to the conference themes in particular
• Originality and creativity
• Visual impact
The winner and the finalists will be recognized with a certificate of distinction. Photographs may be used in future IAEA outreach activities.
Details about the contest and the technical specifications of the photographs are available in the Photography Contest announcement. The deadline for submissions is 1 March 2024.
