Marshall Islands signs its First Country Programme Framework (CPF) for 2016 - 2021

Mr Bruce Kijiner, Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Marshall Islands and Mr Dazhu Yang, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, have signed Marshall Island's first Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2016-2021 on 16 September 2015. A Country Programme Framework (CPF) is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.

The Marshall Islands has been an IAEA Member State since 1994. Its 2016-2021 CPF identifies 4 priority areas:

1. Human Health and Nutrition
2. Food and Agriculture
3. Water and Environment
4. Radiation Safety and Security of Radioactive Sources
