Jordan Signs Its Second Country Programme Framework (CPF) for 2018 – 2022

Dr Khaled Toukan, Chairman, Jordan Atomic Energy Commission, and Mr Dazhu Yang, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, have signed JORDAN’s Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2018 – 2022 on 1.  June 2017. The ceremony was attended by HE Mr. Husam Alhusami, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to The Republic of Austria and Permanent Representative to UNOV.

A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.

JORDA has been an IAEA Member State since 1966. Its 2018 – 2022 CPF identifies 6 priority areas:

  1. Nuclear power plant
  2. Research reactors
  3. Regulatory framework
  4. Production of radiopharmaceuticals
  5. Uranium extraction
  6. Water resource management
