The IAEA and Safety - Radiation Protection in Medicine

Radiation is used worldwide to diagnose and treat disease. Over four billion x-rays and CT scans are conducted each year. Around six million cancer patients receive radiotherapy. The IAEA assists countries in the efforts to use the optimal dose of radiation in medicine. Slovenia has cooperated with the IAEA in 20 projects in the field of radiation protection.
