The September 2009 IAEA Bulletin issue looks at nuclear technology in a globalized world. It contains an excerpt of the statement on disarmament made by Vilmos Cserveny at the NPT Preparatory Committee in May 2009. It also examines the IAEAÕs International Project on Innovative Nuclear Reactors and Fuel Cycles (INPRO); the internationally-integrated, IAEA-guided clean-up of SerbiaÕs radioactive waste; 20 years of contribution of nuclear science and technology to the socio-economic development of Africa through the African Regional Cooperative Agreement (AFRA). Articles report on the IAEAÕs support in providing laboratory equipment and training in nuclear and molecular techniques for improving livestock in Honduras, and on pest killing and dealing with heavy metal pollution through nuclear techniques. This issue contains the statement made by the recently appointed IAEA Director General, Yukiya Amano, at the IAEA Board of Governors Meeting on 3 July 2009 and retrospective looks at the term of his predecessor Dr ElBaradei.
