Basic Training Course on Ocean Acidification
The training course was organized by the IAEA OA-ICC, the University of Gothenburg, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, and the Northeast Atlantic Hub of the Global Ocean Acidification Observing Network.
Experts from the IAEA and the Kristineberg Marine Station came together to train the participants on the basics of ocean acidification. The course provided participants with the knowledge necessary for measuring and manipulating seawater carbonate chemistry, setting up pertinent experiments, avoiding typical pitfalls and ensuring comparability with other studies.
Participants were given the opportunity to perform some basic experiments in the laboratory, and through group work, came up with their own research proposals. The course also provided an excellent opportunity for participants to network with other scientists and experts in the field of ocean acidification.
