The Soil and Water Management and Crop Nutrition (SWMCN) Subprogramme participated at the 2014 EGU held from 27 April to 2 May 2014 in Vienna, Austria.

The theme of the General Assembly was “The Face of the Earth- Process and Form” and featured a vibrant programme of more than 600 sessions, workshops, short courses, town hall meetings and debates. The following poster papers covering a range of areas relating to the use of isotopic and nuclear techniques in land-water management were contributed by SWMCN:

1. Effects of Conservation Agriculture on Soil Physical Properties and Yield of Lentil in Northern Syria
2. Fine Increment Soil Collector (FISC): A new device to support high resolution soil and sediment sampling for agri-environmental assessments
3. Soil organic matter stability in agricultural land: New insights using δ15N, δ13C and C:N ratio
4. Evaluating uncertainty in 7Be-based soil erosion estimates: an experimental plot approach
5. Separating Soil Evaporation and Crop Transpiration to Improve Crop Water Use Efficiency
6. Assessing soil erosion at landscape level: Up-scaling of 137Cs measurements through the use of in-situ LaBr3(Ce) scintillator
7. Wetland Water and Nutrient Budgets for Improving Irrigation Performance in Caspian Low Lands
8. Cosmic Ray Neutron Probe Soil Water Measurements over Complex Terrain in Austria
9. Mitigating Nitrous Oxide Emissions from Agricultural Landscape: The Role of Isotopic Techniques
