This guideline aims to provide a description of procedures required for Ae. aegypti and Ae. albopictus colony routine rearing. It is a summary of necessary steps such as optimizing climatic conditions in the insectary, egg hatching, larval rearing, pupal and larval sorting, sugar and blood feeding, egg collection, handling and storage, used at the FAO/IAEA Insect Pest Control Laboratory (IPCL) to build and maintain a lab colony.
