13 February 2003 -- The IAEA conducted an interview in private with an Iraqi Senior Engineer connected to Iraq's utilization of Aluminium tubes.
An UNMOVIC chemical team continued the destruction of chemical ammunitions filled with mustard gas at Al Mutanna. The team started to detoxify mustard from some of the shells by chemical means.

UNMOVIC sought a private interview with an Iraqi senior biological scientist. The scientist kept the appointment but declined to be interviewed under the UNMOVIC format. The interview did not proceed.
The IAEA conducted an interview in private with an Iraqi scientist connected to Iraq's former centrifuge programme.

Read more →IAEA Board of Governors to Convene Meeting on North Korea
The IAEA Board of Governors will convene on 12 February 2003 at 15:00. The Board will discuss a report by the IAEA Director General, Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei on the implementation of the NPT safeguards agreement between the Agency and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
At the conclusion of a meeting, Dr. ElBaradei will hold a press conference.
Time: 18:00 or at the close of the meeting if the meeting ends after 18:00.
Location: IAEA Headquarters, Vienna International Centre, Wagramer Strasse 5, 1400 Vienna, in the Rotunda.

UNMOVIC IAEA Press Statement on Inspection Activities in Iraq
The Executive Chairman of UNMOVIC, Dr. Hans Blix, and the Director General of the IAEA, Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei, met with the Iraqi delegation headed by General Amir Al-Saadi, an adviser in the Presidential Office. The meeting lasted roughly four hours.

This evening, UNMOVIC conducted two separate private interviews with Iraqi individuals. One was with a senior scientist and another with a missile expert. No Iraqi witness was present during the interviews. The interview with the senior scientist lasted approximately four hours. The interview with the missile expert lasted approximately two and a half hours. During the interviews, a number of relevant issues were addressed.

An UNMOVIC biological group inspected two separate sites: the Directorate of Teaching Laboratories, located in Saddam Medical City, which provides diagnostic services to the hospital and does post-graduate teaching for medical students; and the Abraj Alcohol Production Facility in Baghdad that produces ethanol through fermentation.
