IAEA Statement Following Meeting with Iran

Director General Yukiya Amano of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) met today, 24 February, with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister S. Abbas Araghchi, at the IAEA headquarters in Vienna.  It was a follow-up meeting to talks held between Director General Amano and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Munich on 7 February.  Today’s meeting was useful and facilitated a better understanding  between the two sides. The discussions focused on the need to resolve, as soon as possible, all outstanding issues related to Iran’s nuclear programme. Director General Amano and Deputy Foreign Minister Araghchi recognized the importance of continuing the dialogue between the IAEA and Iran.
