IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi is visiting Belarus today for high-level meetings in the capital Minsk as well as a visit to the country’s nuclear power plant (NPP).
At the NPP in Ostrovets, the Director General and his team of experts will assess the situation at the site almost four years after it was connected to the grid and its progress in addressing the findings of an IAEA operational safety review in 2021.
The Director General’s visit to Belarus takes place at a time when the IAEA is focusing on ensuring nuclear safety and security in the region.
