Mr Gabriel Gonzalez Sprinberg, National Liaison Officer and Technical Director of the Uruguyan National Regulatory Authority in Radiation Protection, Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines, and Mr Hua Liu, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, signed Uruguay's Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2024–2029 on 28 November 2024 on the margins of the Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Science, Technology and Applications and the Technical Cooperation Programme, held at IAEA Headquarters. A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.
Uruguay has been an IAEA Member State since 1963. Its 2024-2029 CPF identifies five priority areas:
- Safety and radiation protection
- Human health and nutrition
- Industry
- Water and the environment
- Food and Agriculture
