Regional Training Course for Latin American Communicators on Nuclear Technology Applications and Strategic Communication (RLA0046/001)

A "Regional Training Course for Latin American Communicators on Nuclear Technology Applications and Strategic Communication", organized within the frame of the technical cooperation regional project RLA0046 "Strengthening Communication and Partnerships in ARCAL countries to Enhance Nuclear Applications and Sustainability (ARCAL CXXXI)", was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina from 11 to 15 November 2013.

This training activity was organized by the IAEA under its technical cooperation programme with the collaboration of the Government of Argentina through its National Atomic Energy Commission.

The purpose of this first-of-a-kind regional course was to train national experts, who work in the field of nuclear and science, in communications and to enable them to incorporate tools and guidelines of communication that will allow to increase the effectiveness of their activities, thereby enhancing the visibility of activities that are developed in the frame of the ARCAL agreement to promote nuclear science and technology.

The ARCAL agreement, in cooperation with the IAEA, is looking forward in 2014 to the creation of a network of communicators from the region that will better serve the objectives of this intergovernmental agreement by disseminating the results achieved by its technical cooperation projects to the general public and/or targeted audiences when appropriate.

The event was attended by the President and Vice President of the National Atomic Energy Commission of Argentina (CNEA), international experts and also attended by representatives of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.
