IAEA Issues Annual Report for 2004

IAEA Annual Report for 2004.

Global nuclear developments in 2004, such as the changing outlook for nuclear power, the increasing role of nuclear applications in global sustainable development initiatives, greater international cooperation in matters of safety and security, and the increasing recognition of the need to strengthen the nuclear non-proliferation regime are presented in the latest IAEA Annual Report. The report, now available online, highlights the Agency’s response to these challenges through activities carried out within the framework of the three pillars of technology, safety and verification.

The IAEA Annual Report is among documents that are submitted to the IAEA General Conference, which this year meets in Vienna beginning 26 September. Other General Conference documents presenting global overviews of the IAEA's work include the Nuclear Technology Review, Nuclear Safety Review and the Technical Cooperation Report.

In recent weeks, the Agency also has released a summary of the latest Safeguards Implementation Report for 2004.

These documents will be made available as they are published.
