IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei is currently on a visit to the United States. Dr. ElBaradei´s trip began on Monday 26 October.
He is currently participating in the Chief Executives Board (CEB) session, a forum at which executive heads of all UN organizations examine ways for further coordination and cooperation on the whole range of substantive and management issues facing the United Nations system. It includes the IAEA and 27 other Member Organizations, as well as the World Tourism Organization and the Bretton Woods institutions. The sessions of the CEB are convened twice a year.
He is also slated to address the United Nations General Assembly at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, 2 November. This will be the final address that Dr. ElBaradei delivers to the UN in his capacity as IAEA chief.
Earlier this week, Dr. ElBaradei met with high-level US officials in Washington D.C., notably US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. He held additional talks with other officials from the White House, State Department, Department of Energy and members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
