IAEA Chief Attends Munich Security Conference

At a special panel discussion held on the last day of the Munich Security Conference on 31 January 2014, IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano touched on the current status of the IAEA/Iran cooperation within the framework of the Geneva nuclear agreement.

IAEA Director General Amano was among panelists invited to discuss Iran's nuclear agreement and future talks aimed at reaching a final agreement.

Other panelists included: Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Carl Bildt, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kingdom of Sweden, and Christopher Murphy, Senator, Member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, USA. Mr. Wolfgang Ischinger, Ambassador, Chairman, Munich Security Conference, was the moderator.

During his visit from 1 to 2 February 2014, the IAEA Chief also met separately with UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon; French Foreign Affairs Minister, Laurent Fabius; German Minister of Foreign Affairs, Frank Walter-Steinmeier; and Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Javad Zarif.

After Munich, IAEA Director General Amano proceeded to Brussels for high-level meetings with officials from the European Commission.
