An UNMOVIC team of missile inspectors inspected the Al Rasheed Headquarters, located approximately 60 km southwest of Baghdad. The team held technical talks with the Iraqi experts of the site about site declarations, future plans and current status of solid propellant missile programmes. During the technical talks, some inspectors performed an inspection of the Administration building for this Headquarters.
An UNMOVIC biological team inspected the Food Examination and Analysis Laboratory of the Al Jadiriyah complex in Baghdad. The laboratory belongs to the Ministry of Trade and is a previously declared site with tagged equipment. The laboratory's main work is to test for food and pharmaceutical contaminants.
An UNMOVIC chemical team inspected the Mussayib Pharmaceutical Complex, located 70 km south of Baghdad. When the site was last visited in 1998, it was under construction. It is still under construction today.
An UNMOVIC multidisciplinary team visited the Baghdad Technology University and queried the Dean of the University on the activities of the University.
The IAEA team met with senior members of the National Monitoring Directorate of Iraq at the Tho Al Fekar factory of the Al Rashid company. The plant is located about 40 km north of Baghdad. The purpose of the meeting was to compare inventories generated by Iraq and IAEA independently. The material being inventoried is very large stocks of high-strength aluminium that has dual-use purposes.
The team then made an unannounced inspection of a private trading company that represents companies outside of Iraq. The team reviewed records of purchases facilitated by this company on behalf of Iraqi military programmes. The company has been involved in recent attempts by Iraq to purchase high-strength aluminium.
