The IAEA Board of Governors will convene a regular meeting at the Agency´s Headquarters at 10:30 on Monday, 7 September 2009, in the IAEA Boardroom, C04, in the Vienna International Centre. Director General Mohamed ElBaradei will open the meeting with an introductory statement. His statement will be released to journalists after delivery and posted on the IAEA website the same day. Reports by the Director General on the Implementation of the NPT Safeguards Agreement and Relevant Provisions of Security Council Resolutions 1737 (2006), 1747 (2007), 1803 (2008) and 1835 (2008) in the Islamic Republic of Iran, and on the Implementation of the NPT Safeguards Agreement in the Syrian Arab Republic will be discussed. Board discussions are also expected on several other issues, including nuclear security, measures to protect against nuclear terrorism and Agency activities related to nuclear science, technology and applications. The Board is also expected to pay tribute to Director General ElBaradei, whose term as head of the Agency will end on 30 November 2009.
