Press Arrangements for 56th IAEA General Conference


Representatives from the 154 Member States of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will meet at the Vienna International Centre (VIC) on Monday, 17 September 2012, starting at 10:00 CET, for the five-day IAEA annual General Conference to discuss major topics on the Organization's agenda.

This year's Scientific Forum, to be held on 18 and 19 September 2012, is entitled Food for the Future: Meeting the Challenges with Nuclear Applications. The meeting will take place in the Austria Centre, but please access it through the VIC.

All plenary sessions of the General Conference and the Scientific Forum will be open to the press. They will also be streamed live through the IAEA Website.

Details about the General Conference, the Provisional Agenda, and the Scientific Forum are available on the IAEA Website. The IAEA Press Office will distribute a schedule of special briefings to be offered to the media.

Most of the main conference events will take place in the M-Building of the VIC.

At the entrance to the M-Building, visiting journalists will find a Press Counter which will be staffed throughout the week. Twenty meters from that point is the Press Briefing and Working Area which is equipped with open Internet access.

Journalists with permanent accreditation to the VIC need no further credentials but we would ask you to register with us for GC Alerts of Press events and to receive your GC documentation.

Accreditation will be at the Gate 1 entrance to the VIC. All journalists will be required daily to clear security at Gate 1. Please note that badges can only be issued at Gate 1.

You will be required to present a valid press I.D. and credentials at the accreditation counter, which will be open from 14:30 to 18:30 on Sunday, 16 September 2012. You can also seek accreditation from 08:00 on Monday, 17 September, but please allow extra time to pass through Gate 1.

Only satellite trucks are allowed to park at the VIC Memorial Plaza. Drivers of satellite trucks should inform Juanita Perez Vargas; tel.: [43-1] 2600-21279/[43-1] 2600- 21273, in advance, of their names, affiliations and vehicle license plate numbers.
