Uranium: How Can We Ensure Its Sustainable Use?

Uranium is the main fuel for nuclear reactors that generate 11% of the world’s electricity. Secure supplies of the metal are needed for this low-carbon energy technology. Around 300 experts from 61 countries are at the Agency’s headquarters in Vienna to participate in the International Symposium on Uranium Raw Material for the Nuclear Fuel Cycle: Exploration, Mining, Production, Supply and Demand, Economics and Environmental Issues.
