The IAEA will showcase its work in nutrition and participate in the launch of the curriculum for Master of Human Nutrition and Nuclear Techniques, along with the senior regional university officials from Morocco, Senegal and South Africa. The curriculum was developed under the IAEA-supported regional project RAF6059 “Building Capacity to Use Stable Isotope Techniques to Improve Micronutrient Status Among Children (AFRA)”, and it has already been approved at both the International University of Rabat (Morocco) and North-West University (South Africa), where students will be admitted from 1 September 2023 and 2 January 2024, respectively.
The theme of the 5th FANUS conference is “Multisectoral approach to strengthening food systems and achieving sustainable nutrition targets in Africa”. The conference will comprise a series of events including the opening ceremony, plenary sessions, scientific/technical sessions, workshops, a symposium, special presentations, exhibitions, networking, social and sightseeing tours among others. These activities will make the programme a unique and valuable experience that will consolidate efforts towards addressing malnutrition challenges in Africa.
