The March 2013 edition of the IAEA Bulletin provides an overview of many of the issues to be addressed in June 2013 at the St Petersburg International Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Power in the 21st Century. The conference provides a valuable opportunity to take stock of nuclear power. Several of the matters that will be discussed are covered in this editionÕs articles. These include nuclear power, its safety, its economics, and its role in mitigating global warming and achieving sustainable development. Through its International Project on Innovative Nuclear Reactors and Fuel Cycles (INPRO), the IAEA coordinates international research and development to drive innovation. As the construction of nuclear power plants is on the rise around the world, the IAEA helps newcomers evaluate their readiness and make informed decisions, and offers all Member States wide-ranging support in human resources management. Waste management and public trust are also examined.
