General Conference Day 5 Highlights

On the final day of the weeklong 61st IAEA General Conference, a number of resolutions were adopted to further strengthen the IAEA’s work in the areas of nuclear science and technology, safety, security, safeguards and technical cooperation. See this article summarizing the resolutions.

The following side events took place on Friday:

At the eighth IAEA Regulatory Cooperation Forum (RCF) plenary meeting, a new IAEA safety culture self-assessment methodology and a pilot project on the licensing of small modular reactors were highlighted. Members of the Forum and non-members also shared their experience and knowledge in regulatory infrastructure development.

At the In Touch event, the IAEA Secretariat presented the InTouch+ platform that supports online applications for all IAEA events including training courses, fellowships, scientific visits and meetings. It is the successor to the Department of Technical Cooperation’s InTouch platform.
