Peer reviews are increasingly being acknowledged as an important element in building broader stakeholder confidence in the safety and viability of disposal facilities. This publication presents the findings, conclusions and recommendations of an international peer review assessment, on the basis of IAEA safety standards, of KAERI’s approach to developing a geological disposal system for radioactive waste generated by pyro-processing of spent nuclear fuel. The publication presents the consensus view of the international group of experts convened by the IAEA to perform the review.
