On the basis of our discussions, I am confident that I express the broad sense of the Board in stating the following points:

The Board expressed its appreciation for the 6 June report of the Director General, which provides a factual and objective description of developments since March in relation to safeguards issues in the Islamic Republic of Iran, which need to be clarified, and actions that need to be taken.

IAEA Safeguards Inspectors begin inventory of nuclear material in Iraq

A team of seven IAEA safeguards inspectors will begin taking an inventory and securing nuclear material at the nuclear material storage site at the Tuwaitha nuclear complex. The nuclear material - 1.8 tonnes of low enriched uranium and 500 tonnes of natural uranium - had been under IAEA seal since 1991. It was last visited by IAEA inspectors in February 2003.

Press Arrangements for the IAEA Board of Governors Meeting

The meetings of the IAEA Board of Governors will commence on Monday, 16 June 2003 at 10.30 a.m. The Board will discuss, among other issues, the IAEA budget for 2004-05; actions by the IAEA to combat nuclear terrorism; and nuclear verification, including the report by the IAEA Director General, Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei, on the implementation of the NPT safeguards agreement between the Agency and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

UNMOVIC IAEA Press Statement on Inspection Activities in Iraq

UNMOVIC supervised the destruction of two more Al Samoud 2 missiles, the computer software in a control vehicle to programme the missile, and missile parts, such as fuel tanks and warhead shells. Today's action brings to 70 the total number of Al Samoud 2 missiles destroyed since 1 March.

An UNMOVIC missile team supervised at the Taji Technical Battalion the destruction of 3 more Al Samoud 2 missiles, one launcher, and some parts of warhead and propellant tank. Another missile team went to the Al Qaid Warhead Filling Plant of the Al Qaa Qaa State Company and placed tags onto 5 Al Fatah warheads.

An UNMOVIC chemical team inspected the Daura Oil Refinery south of Baghdad to identify changes in the site during the last four years.

An UNMOVIC missile team supervised the destruction of 3 more Al Samoud 2 missiles at the Taji Technical Battalion. This brings to 58 the total number of Al Samoud 2 missiles destroyed since the commencement of this process on 1 March. Another missile team went to the Waziriyah plant to inventory and destroy Al Samoud 2 missile-related materials and components. The destroyed materials and components were sent to Taji for disposal.
