Media Arrangements for 58th IAEA General Conference

2014/14

Representatives from the 162 Member States of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will meet at the Vienna International Centre (VIC) on Monday, 22 September 2014, starting at 10:00 CET, for the five-day IAEA annual General Conference to discuss major topics on the Organization's agenda.

This year's Scientific Forum, to be held on the sidelines of the General Conference, on 23 and 24 September 2014, is entitled Radioactive Waste: Meeting the Challenge - Science and Technology for Safe and Sustainable Solutions

All plenary sessions of the General Conference and the Scientific Forum will be open to the media. They will also be streamed live through the IAEA Website.

Details of the General Conference, the Provisional Agenda, and the Scientific Forum are available on the IAEA Website. The IAEA Press Office will distribute a schedule of special briefings to be offered to the media, as well as Conference side events that are open to the media.

Most of the main Conference events will take place in the M-Building of the VIC, with the exception of the Scientific Forum, which will take place in Boardroom D of the C-Building.

At the entrance to the M-Building, visiting journalists will find a Press Counter which will be staffed throughout the week. A media briefing and working area equipped with internet access is also available.

Journalists with permanent accreditation to the VIC need no further credentials but we would ask you to register with us for GC Alerts of press events and to receive any other General Conference related information.

Accreditation will be at the Gate 1 entrance to the VIC. All journalists will be required to clear security each day at Gate 1.

You will be required to present a valid press I.D. at the accreditation counter, which will be open from 14:30 to 18:30 on Sunday, 21 September 2014. You can also seek accreditation from 08:00 on Monday, 22 September, but please allow extra time to pass through Gate 1.

Only satellite trucks are allowed to park at the VIC Memorial Plaza. Drivers of satellite trucks should inform Theresa Mackay; tel.: [+43-1] 2600-22048/[+43-1] 2600-21273, in advance, of their names, affiliations and vehicle license plate numbers.
