Namibia becomes the Fiftieth State to Join the Agency's Programme for Collecting and Sharing Information on Trafficking Incidents

1997/04

Today Namibia became the fiftieth State to join the Agency's programme for collecting and sharing information on trafficking incidents involving nuclear material and other radioactive sources.

In 1995, the Board of Governors requested the Director General to develop a reliable data base of information on incidents of illicit trafficking in order to assist Member States and to better inform the public.

Since October 1996, the Agency has made available authoritative summary information to Member States and certain international organizations which had been working with the Agency in this area.

The States that have joined the Agency's programme are listed below. A number of additional States have expressed their intention to join the programme as soon as the "national point of contact" has been identified.
