IAEA Board for 2001-2002 Elects Chairman Mr. Max Hughes, Ambassador of Australia

At its first meeting today, the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for 2001-2002 elected the Resident Representative of Australia to the IAEA, Ambassador Max Hughes, as its Chairman.

Ambassador Sameh Hassan Shoukry Selim from Egypt and Mr. Vadym V. Gryshchenko, Chairman of the State Nuclear Regulatory Committee from Ukraine, were elected as Vice-Chairmen.

Member States represented on the IAEA Board for 2001-2002 are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, India, Ireland, Islamic Republic of Iran, Japan, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Kuwait, Mexico, Morocco, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Romania, Russian Federation, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, United States of America.
