The History of the IAEA Safety Standards and the Present Services for Enhancing their Footprint for Safety
The IAEA Statute authorizes the Agency to establish or adopt standards of safety for protection of health and minimization of danger and to provide for the application of these standards. Since the first IAEA safety standard was published in 1958, they have served as the global reference for national regulatory systems and form the basis for several international legal instruments. This event, co-hosted by MT and NS, will be facilitated by DDG MT and will feature a panel discussion with DDG NS and other leading experts in the field to explore the evolution of the IAEA’s role in developing these standards, their practical use amongst Member States and evolution in their dissemination.
This event will be held on Tuesday, 26 September 2023, from 3.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. at ESPACE M0E, M Building, ground floor.
