Press Arrangements for Conference "Chernobyl: Looking Back to Go Forwards"

The Chernobyl Forum was established in 2003 to develop an authoritative consensus on the impact and consequences of the 26 April 1986 explosion at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in the Ukraine.

The event is open to accredited news media. A press conference will be held at 12.00 p.m. on 6 September in Rooms 557/558, Austria Centre, following the opening of the Conference at 10:00 a.m.

The Chernobyl Forum was established by the IAEA, in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Office of Community and Human Affairs (OCHA), the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR), the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Bank, and the governments of Belarus, the Russian Federation and the Ukraine. The Forum was created as a contribution to the United Nations´ ten-year strategy for Chernobyl.

Access to the conference and the press conference is at the main entrance to the Austria Centre. Journalists with a valid press pass will be accredited, either on-line or from 15:00 p.m. on Monday, 5 September, and from 08:00 a.m. on Tuesday 6 September, at the Austria Centre.
