Press Arrangements for IAEA Board of Governors Meeting, 9 March 2020

The IAEA Board of Governors will convene a meeting at the Agency's headquarters starting at 10:30 CET on Monday, 9 March, in Boardroom C on the fourth floor of the C-Building in the Vienna International Centre (VIC).

Board discussions are expected to include: the Nuclear Safety Review 2020; the Nuclear Technology Review 2020; verification and monitoring in the Islamic Republic of Iran in light of United Nations Security Council resolution 2231 (2015); application of safeguards in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea; and implementation of the NPT safeguards agreement in the Syrian Arab Republic.  

The Board of Governors meeting is closed to the press.

Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi will open the meeting with an introductory statement. His statement will be released to journalists after delivery and posted on the IAEA website.

Director General Grossi is also expected to hold a press conference at 14:30 CET on Monday, 9 March, in the Press Room of the M-building.

Event to launch IAEA Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship Programme

In celebration of International Women’s Day 2020, Director General Grossi will launch the IAEA Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship Programme at 13:15 CET on Monday, 9 March, outside Boardroom C. The event will feature distinguished speakers, including Hélène Langevin-Joliot, nuclear physicist and granddaughter of Marie Skłodowska-Curie, and Karen Hallberg, Argentine nuclear physicist and Latin American winner of the L’Oreal-UNESCO Award for Women in Science.

This event is open to media and will also be livestreamed.

Photo Op

There will be a photo opportunity before the start of the Board meeting. IAEA photos will be available on Flickr.

Press Working Area

The Press Room on the M-Building's ground floor will be available as a press working area starting from 08:30 CET on 9 March 2020. The area outside Boardroom C on the fourth floor of the C-Building (C04) will also be set up for the media with high-capacity WiFi available (no password required).

Accreditation

All journalists are requested to inform the IAEA Press Office of their plans to attend. Journalists with permanent credentials to the VIC need no additional credentials. We encourage those journalists who do not yet have permanent accreditation to request it at UNIS Vienna.
