UNMOVIC IAEA Press Statement on Inspection Activities in Iraq

An UNMOVIC chemical team inspected the Al Basil Centre-Jadriyah and other buildings in the Jadriyah compound. The Al Basil is mainly a chemical and petroleum research center. The team froze all entrances, though vehicles and people were allowed to leave subject to search.

UNMOVIC IAEA Press Statement on Inspection Activities in Iraq

An UNMOVIC chemical team inspected the Ibn Sina Centre at Farmiyah, approximately 60 km northwest of Baghdad. This site is a chemical research center and former uranium enrichment facility.

An UNMOVIC biological team inspected the Al Khalis Alcohol Facotry, located about 60 km north of Baghdad. This factory produces alcohol for local markets and medical use. Another biological team traveled to Basra and inspected the Baghdad University College of Agriculture and the Biology Department of the Baghdad University College of Education.

UNMOVIC IAEA Press Statement on Inspection Activities in Iraq, 3 January 2003

An UNMOVIC team of missile inspectors inspected the Al Mamoun Plant, which belongs to the Al Rasheed Company. The site is located roughly 60 km south of Baghdad. The team tagged several declared equipment, which Iraq had manufactured between 1998 and 2002.

UNMOVIC IAEA Press Statement on Inspection Activities in Iraq, 2 January 2003

An UNMOVIC chemical team traveled 280 km northwest from Baghdad to inspect the Al Hadar State Company, formerly known as Ash Sharqat Uranium Enrichment Facility. This site is a chemical plant and produces nitric acid and ammonium nitrate.

An UNMOVIC team of missile experts returned to the Al Fatah State Company to hold technical talks with key site personnel of the Iraqi Solid Propellant Missile Programmes. This site was previously inspected on 14 December.

UNMOVIC IAEA Press Statement on Inspection Activities in Iraq, 1 January 2003

An UNMOVIC team of missile inspectors inspected the Al Harith Factory at the Taji Camp, located roughly 40 km north of Baghdad. A few days ago, Iraqi representatives requested that UNMOVIC remove tags from SA-2 missiles to facilitate required maintenance tasks. The missile experts took this opportunity to re-inspect the facility, which was previously inspected on 19 December 2002.

An UNMOVIC chemical team inspected the Al Majd Al Amiriyah Stores, approximately 30 km west of Baghdad. This site is a store that contains some electronics and corrosion-resistant materials.

UNMOVIC IAEA Press Statement on Inspection Activities in Iraq. 31 December 2002

An UNMOVIC team of missile inspectors visited the Al Mamoun Plant, located approximately 60 km southwest of Baghdad. The purpose of the visit was to witness the casting process of a solid propellant motor for the Al Ubour missile. Another missile team inspected the Al Mansour plant, located in the northeast section of Baghdad. This facility produces semiconductors, industrial gases, and drinking water.

UNMOVIC IAEA Press Statement on Inspection Activities in Iraq. 30 December 2002

An UNMOVIC biological team inspected the Central Public Health Laboratory in Baghdad. This laboratory provides primary and reference clinical laboratory services. Another biological team conducted an inspection of the Plant Protection Division #1 (Abu Ghraib Plant) in Abu Ghraib. This facility is in charge of agricultural quarantine centers and its main activities comprise screening of imported and exported agricultural products and distribution of pesticides.

UNMOVIC IAEA Press Statement on Inspection Activities in Iraq. 29 December 2002

An UNMOVIC chemical team inspected the Chemical Engineering Design Centre in Baghdad. The Centre is part of the Sa'ad Company, which owns the Ibn Younis Centre, a mechanical design establishment, inspected yesterday. The Chemical Engineering Design Centre is involved in various projects for chemical and petrochemical production facilities. The team examined archives and current projects, and also looked into management and personnel.

An UNMOVIC multidisciplinary team inspected the General Commission of Customs in Baghdad. This Commission is the central customs authority in Iraq.
