Joint Press Statement of First EU-IAEA Senior Officials Meeting on 25 January 2013
Brussels -- On 25 January 2013 officials of the EU and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) met in Brussels for a first ever Senior Level meeting bringing together officials from the European External Action Service and various EU Commission Services with Senior officials from the IAEA to discuss enhanced cooperation between the institutions.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will host a five-day International Experts' Meeting (IEM) on Decommissioning and Remediation After a Nuclear Accident from 28 January to 1 February 2013. This is part of a series of expert meetings held in connection with the implementation of the IAEA Action Plan on Nuclear Safety, endorsed by the Agency's General Conference in September 2011. The meeting is organized by the IAEA's Department of Nuclear Safety and Security and the Department of Nuclear Energy.

The IAEA will brief Vienna-based journalists about the Fukushima Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Safety, to be held in Fukushima Prefecture on 15-17 December 2012.
The briefing will be held in room B0486 at 11 a.m. on Friday, 7 December 2012 at the IAEA Headquarters in the Vienna International Centre.

Journalists are invited to attend a major International Conference in Bonn addressing radiation protection in medicine that will propose taking new steps to protect patients around the globe.
The week-long event will be attended by more than 600 delegates from 88 countries including representatives of 17 international organizations. An anticipated output of the Conference is a "Bonn Call for Action", outlining responsibilities of the main stakeholders regarding radiation protection in medicine.

The IAEA Board of Governors will convene a meeting at the Agency's headquarters starting at 10:00 CET on Thursday, 29 November 2012 in Boardroom A of the M-Building, in the Vienna International Centre (VIC).
The Board of Governors meeting is closed to the press.
Director General Yukiya Amano will open the meeting with an introductory statement. His statement will be released to journalists after delivery and posted on the IAEA Website the same day.
