An UNMOVIC missile team supervised the destruction of 6 more Al Samoud 2 missiles at Al Taji, bringing to 34 the total number of Al Samoud 2 missiles destroyed to date. Another missile team observed the final concrete encasing of the two destroyed casting chambers at Al Mutasim. A third missile team visited the Al Samoud Factory to inventory spare parts and components for the Al Samoud 2 missile.

To raise awareness of a growing global security concern, the IAEA is organizing an International Conference on Security of Radioactive Sources on 11-13 March in the Hofburg Congress Centre in Vienna. The conference will bring together over 600 experts from more than 110 countries involved in promoting the security and safety of radioactive sources, including from the fields of radiation safety, law enforcement, customs and border control.

An UNMOVIC missile team supervised the destruction of 9 more Al Samoud 2 missiles. Another missile team observed the concrete casing of the two destroyed casting chambers.
UNMOVIC conducted a private interview with an Iraqi scientist this afternoon.
An UNMOVIC chemical team returned to the Al Muthanna site and supervised the final disposal of the neutralized mustard. A second chemical team inspected two plants in the Al Qa Qaa complex.

An UNMOVIC missile team supervised the destruction of three more Al Samoud 2 missiles. One Al Samoud 2 launcher and five Al Samoud 2 engines were also destroyed. Another missile team supervised the final stage of the destruction of a second casting chamber. Now the two casting chambers are considered totally destroyed.

An UNMOVIC biological team returned to the Al Aziziyah Airfield and Firing Range and observed further digging in search of R-400 aerial bombs and bomb fragments that Iraq claims were filled with biological agents. Additional fragments of R-400 bombs were identified. Another biological team conducted an inspection of the Mesopotania State Company for Seeds at the Djerf al Naddaf site in southeast Baghdad.

The first Mirage IV surveillance operation was conducted successfully yesterday, 26 February.
An UNMOVIC chemical team returned to the Al Muthana site and supervised the successful drilling of eight remaining artillery shells filled with mustard as well as the detoxication of mustard taken from the shells. A second chemical team inspected the Northern Refineries Company in Baiji approximately 240km north of Baghdad.

An UNMOVIC biological team returned to the Al Aziziyah Range, where excavations of the R400 aerial bombs were under way. Iraq claims that these bombs filled with biological agents had been unilaterally destroyed in 1991. The team observed the excavation of a pit and inspected excavated munitions and fragments. UNMOVIC also conducted an aerial survey of the site.

The destruction of mustard and 155mm artillery shells used for mustard gas at the Al Muthana site will resume tomorrow. The destruction process was temporarily halted due to technical problems. When the work was halted, about one-third of 50 liters of mustard had been destroyed. If everything goes well, the destruction work will be completed in four to five days.
