IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei and Christopher Hill, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, will meet on Wednesday, 14 November 2007, at the IAEA Headquarters.

There will be a photo opportunity at 11:00. Photographers and camera crews should gather at the bottom of A Tower, VIC, by 10:45.

Press Arrangements for IAEA Board of Governors Meeting, Starting 22 November 2007

The IAEA Board of Governors will convene a regular meeting in the Agency´s Headquarters at 10:30 on Thursday, 22 November 2007, at the IAEA Boardroom, C04, in the Vienna International Centre.

The Agency´s Technical Cooperation projects, current safeguards implementation issues and a report by the Director General, entitled IAEA´s Safeguards Analytical Laboratory: Sustaining Credible Safeguards, which lays out options for addressing the current deficiencies of the IAEA´s Laboratory in Seibersdorf are among the topics the Board is expected to discuss.

International Conference on Illicit Nuclear Trafficking: Collective Experience and the Way Forward

Representatives of more than 70 countries will meet in Edinburgh, 19 - 22 November, to assess future challenges from trafficking in nuclear and other radioactive material and review how effectively the threat is being met.

IAEA Shanghai Meeting to Focus on Nuclear Power Plant Life Management

An international symposium will gather more than 300 experts next Monday in the Chinese city of Shanghai to discuss world experiences in effectively managing nuclear power plants beyond their initial design lives.

The four-day scientific event from 15 to 18 October is organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), in cooperation with China Atomic Energy Authority (CAEA) and China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), and comes at a time of renewed interest in and rising expectations for the use of nuclear power for generating electricity.

Senior representatives from 144 member states of the International Atomic Energy Organization will meet at the Austria Centre in Vienna on Monday, 17 September, for the five-day IAEA annual General Conference to discuss major topics on the organization's agenda.

All plenary sessions of the General Conference, from 17 to 21 September, and of the Scientific Forum, from 18 to 20 September, will be open to the press. The latter event is aimed at stimulating discussion on scientific and other issues relating to the IAEA’s activities.

The 35-member IAEA Board of Governors will convene a regular meeting at 10:30 on Monday, 10 September 2007, in the IAEA Boardroom, C04, in the Agency´s Headquarters, Vienna International Centre.

Director General Mohamed ElBaradei will open the meeting with an introductory statement. His statement will be released to journalists after delivery and placed on the IAEA website at about 11:00 the same day.
