Electricity and the Environment

Vol. 33-3

September 1991

This article is based upon a key issues paper presented at the Senior Expert Symposium on Electricity and the Environment, held in May 1991. It discusses the problems with comparing health and environmental risks for various energy sources, and presents data on mortality risks due to electricity production from different fuels and on emissions from different fuel sources. Comparative risk assessment is expected to have an increasingly important role in energy planning
