Technical Cooperation Presents an Exhibition and AFRA Side Event at the 53rd IAEA General Conference

The International Atomic Energy Agency is holding its 53rd General Conference at the Vienna International Centre and the Austria Centre from 14 to 18 September. A full list of events, documents, meetings and a daily journal containing complete conference information can be found at the 53rd General Conference website.

The Department of Technical Cooperation's (TC) Division for Africa will hold a side event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of AFRA (African Regional Co-operative Agreement for Research, Development and Training Related to Nuclear Science and Technology). The event, a panel discussion, will be held on Thursday, 17 September in C07V and will highlight AFRA successes, challenges and opportunities for the future.
Throughout the General Conference, a TC exhibition and Service Desk - located on the ground floor of the M building - will provide information and materials on the services and projects delivered through the Department of Technical Cooperation.

Material available at the TC exhibition will include flyers describing successful technical cooperation projects which have been implemented in recent years. The TC Service Desk will exhibit the new TC Annual Report and Supplement, a new CD containing TC publications and outreach materials from 2007-2009, and brochures such as Fifty Years of TC and Nuclear Applications for Development.

A series of informational presentations will be running at the Service Desk, including a presentation on InTouch, a new online communication platform for the IAEA technical cooperation community. The presentations will provide information on a range of topics including a new PCMF module on monitoring and self-assessment, and TC Success Stories. Presentations will be shown according to a schedule advertised at the Service Desk, allowing delegates to see presentations at their convenience. A TC representative will be available at the Service Desk during the lunchtime hours to answer any questions related to the TC programme or any of the services that TC provides.
