Induction and Consultative Meeting with the National Programme Team and Launching of CPF Development for Mozambique

The Country Programme Framework (CPF) is the principal means for expressing country development objectives, interests and priorities with respect to the cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) under its TC Programme and constitutes the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of TC activities between a Member State and the IAEA for a period covering 5-6 years. This CPF document identifies the sectoral priorities for socio-economic development and provides a basis for the design and formulation of sound TC projects meeting quality and sustainability criteria. Being the principal modality for enhanced planning and programming of TC activities, the CPF bears a crucial importance in the context of the preparation of the forthcoming TC programming cycle for 2012-2013.

The Republic of Mozambique is a new Member State to the IAEA and participating in the current 2009-2011 IAEA Technical Cooperation Programme for the first time. The Country is also initiating preparatory actions for the development of the First CPF for the period 2011-2015. In this connection, a national team has been invited to the Agency Headquarters in Vienna from 13 -17 July 2009 for an induction and consultative meeting, for the launching of CPF development process.

The purpose of the meeting is to familiarize the national team with the Agency's overall working mechanisms including technical cooperation and technical support and technology transfer activities, with a view to strengthen and improve the cooperation between the Republic of Mozambique and the Agency, to promote a shared understanding on the CPF operational guidelines and discuss practical considerations on initiating and conducting the CPF process.

The programme of the meeting foresees interactive presentations of the complete set of the TC programme cycle, a guide tour on IAEA thematic areas, and hands-on exchanges on issues related to the programme management cycle.
