Applications Open for ICTP-IAEA School of Nuclear Energy Management

The School of Nuclear Energy Management offers young professionals from developed and developing countries a unique international experience. (IAEA)

The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) and the IAEA will jointly organize their School of Nuclear Energy Management (NEM), targeted at young professionals who show promise as future leaders in the nuclear, academic and public sectors. Taking place from 17 to 28 November 2014 at the ICTP headquarters in Trieste, Italy, the NEM School provides a unique international educational experience aimed at building future leadership in managing nuclear energy programmes, in particular in newcomer countries. The School’s comprehensive curriculum will cover topics such as world energy balance, geopolitics and climate issues, energy planning, energy economics, nuclear power economics and finance, technology and life cycle of nuclear power, nuclear science and research, nuclear safety and security, nuclear law, international conventions and relevant mechanisms, nuclear non-proliferation and safeguards, human resource development and knowledge management, nuclear leadership, management and sociology, emergency preparedness, communicating radiation risks to the public, and IAEA support for nuclear power development. The NEM School will focus mainly on training young professionals with managerial potential to support national capacity building in the nuclear field. The School is open for citizens of Member States of the IAEA, UNESCO or the United Nations. Applications for the Joint ICTP-IAEA School of Nuclear Energy Management must be submitted online at the ICTP website by 18 May 2014.
