Senior representatives of the Member States of the IAEA are meeting this week in Vienna, Austria, for the Agency's 60th General Conference. At the opening session of this five-day annual event, IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano delivered a statement. He highlighted the Agency's most important achievements spanning its six decade history and stressed the importance of nuclear science and technology. He also said that he has informed the Chairman of the Board of his availability to serve another term as Director General.
