The following is a transcript of remarks made on 14 December 2012 by Herman Nackaerts, Deputy Director General for Safeguards, upon returning to Vienna, after talks between senior International Atomic Energy Agency officials and Iranian representatives in Tehran on 13 December 2012:
"We had a long day of meetings and we were able to make progress on the text of the structured approach to resolving the outstanding issues on possible military dimensions of Iran's nuclear programme. We have agreed to meet again on the 16th of January of next year where we expect to finalize the structured approach and start implementing the plan shortly after that."
In response to questions from reporters about access to Parchin, the atmosphere of the talks, and expectations for the agreed to meeting in January 2013, Deputy Director General Nackaerts replied:
"We have not been given access to Parchin this time but as you know access to Parchin is part of the structured approach and we hope as I said that we will implement that shortly after agreeing on the approach.
"We had a good meeting.
"We expect to finalize it [the structured approach] next time."
